A well-known trader who dealt in cosmetic items in Counter Strike: Global Offensive has lost all of the assets on his account. According to the owner, known by the nickname temp1eCS, the intruders took possession of about $150,000 worth of items.
He published a series of posts on his Twitter account detailing how it happened. He said he was unable to log into his «investment» Steam account a few days ago because someone changed his password. The phone number to which the account was linked also turned out to be non-functional, so temp1e was unable to use the Steam authenticator. He managed to restore access only after correspondence with technical support, after he proved that the account belongs to him. After logging in, he discovered that his inventory was completely empty.
The user suspects that the attackers used a SIM card replacement scam: it allowed them to create a duplicate of the number associated with the account and thus take control of it. Among the items temp1e – has lost are rare souvenir sets, stickers from past majors and gold player autographs.
