Virtus.pro won the Pinnacle Fall Series 1 tournament in Belgrade midweek, thus securing a spot at next year's LAN Sweet LAN. In addition, the winners received a cash reward of $40,000.
Thanks to its high place in the world rankings, Virtus.pro was invited directly to the Pinnacle Cup playoffs and did not need to qualify for the group stage. On the way to victory, Virtus.pro won matches against Copenhagen Flames, FaZe and SKADE. A surprise for many was the entry into the final of Bulgarian SKADE, which managed to beat BIG and Spirit during the tournament. However, despite impressive results in the first games, Georgi «SHiPZ» Grigorov's team failed to cope with Virtus.pro.
On the first map of the final match, Overpass, the Bulgarian team confidently held the initiative and soon led with a score of 2 – 8. However, later on Virtus.pro managed to gather themselves, regain the advantage and bring the map draw to a virtually equal fight, which ended with a score of 16 – 11 in favor of the CIS team. The second map was Dust2, and Virtus.pro won it without much trouble with a score of 16 – 8.
By winning this tournament, Virtus.pro gets a slot at LAN Sweet LAN 2022. This $250,000 tournament will also be held in Belgrade and is scheduled to start on April 1, 2022.
