Valve has revealed plans for the majors in 2022 and 2023

On Friday, Valve revealed its plans for Counter Strike tournaments in 2022 and 2021. Specifically, the company mentioned that it expects to hold two majors per year – one to be held in late spring and the other – in late fall. Each of these global competitions will be preceded by regional ranking tournaments. Valve will wait until the end of June to receive bids from the organizing companies, and then will make a decision on where to host the majors within the next month. Proposals from organizations looking to take over the 2023 tournaments will be accepted through the end of the fall, but exactly when the selection results will be announced is unknown.

The 2022 Majors are scheduled to take place in late May and early November. Preliminary regional tournaments in each of the five regions will be LAN-formatted. Valve will provide the prize pool, as well as cover the cost of flights and accommodation for the teams.

After a long break due to the coronavirus pandemic, the first return to the usual format should be the PGL Major Stockholm tournament, which will be held from October 23 to November 7. The playoff matches will take place at Avicii Arena. Ranking tournaments, the results of which will determine the list of participating teams, are already being held now in an online format.
