China's TYLOO became the first team to qualify for IEM Winter. It defeated NKT, which features players from Korea, Singapore and Mongolia, in the grand finals of the IEM Winter Asia Qualifier.
IEM Winter could be the first major tournament in more than a year that TYLOO will travel to Europe to compete in. The last time she appeared at a European event was at ESL Pro League Season 11 in April 2020. In addition, TYLOO still has a chance to qualify for the major in Stockholm: the team is competing for a spot with ViCi. Who will get a ticket to PGL Major Stockholm depends on the results of IEM Fall, which will be held from October 5 to 10.
In order to secure a spot at IEM Winter, the Chinese team had to first pass the open qualification tournament. They then performed brilliantly in the indoor part of the qualifying stage without suffering a single defeat. Their opponents included Asian teams such as Wings Up and NKT. She won both with a score of 2 – 0.
Four more participants of the IEM Winter – three from Europe and one from North America are determined by the results of similar qualifying tournaments. The remaining eleven teams will receive direct invitations from ESL.
