Swedish team NIP has released an announcement that Björn «THREAT» Pers will step down as its head coach immediately after the end of IEM Winter. However, he will not part ways with the team but will become its technical director and will be involved in the tactical aspects of the game. Thus ends for THREAT the second period in his career when he held the coaching post at NIP. In 2016 – 2018 he worked with the old squad, but then took a break from the game for about a year before returning in 2019.
Despite THREAT's talents, the Swedish team has barely managed to score any big wins in the last two years, with the only time they managed to take first place in a tournament being at IEM Fall Europe. The team then qualified for PGL Major Stockholm, where they were eliminated in the playoffs after losing to G2.
Thus, NIP will now look for a new coach by the beginning of 2022 THREAT himself commented on the change, noting that he likes to delve into such subtleties and then see how they translate into the game, and this activity is closer to him than playing at the tournament next to the players. He plans to continue to work on creating new tactical plans, while the new head coach will help the team members perform at their best just when they need to.
