Organizers of the WePlay Academy youth league have shared details of how the third season will play out. The competition will take place between early January and mid-February, and there will be two new teams among the participants.
The tournament, created for young players, will start already on January 3. In addition to the previous participants, Spirit Academy and Eternal Fire Academy will also enter the battle for first place. As the league will now have a total of ten teams, the format of the group stage will change from previous seasons. This time the participants will be split into two groups that will compete in a round-robin format.
Last season's champions MOUZ NXT, who are rumored to be in danger of losing several current roster players to the main roster, are placed in Group B along with two newcomers and two other teams that have never reached the finals of the tournament in previous tournaments (VP.Prodigy and FURIA Academy). In Group A were the three finalists of last season (NAVI Junior, Young Ninjas and BIG Academy), as well as Astralis Talent and fnatic Rising.
The top teams in their respective groups will advance to the playoffs, which are scheduled to take place at the WePlay Esports Arena in Kiev on February 11 – 13. The remaining teams will play an additional qualifying round, the winners of which will get two more spots in the final stage.
