While the numerous weapon designs offer no competitive advantage, the desire to stand out, add to one's collection, or make a good investment can push people to spend quite a bit.
Sovenir AWP Dragon Lore
The title of most famous and most expensive skin is still held by the souvenir AWP Dragon Lore (Dragon Lore). It appeared in Operation Breakout in 2014 and soon became the most expensive object in the game. The only way to get a new copy of this skin (and with a very low probability) – is to open Cobblestone souvenir packs, and because the Cobblestone map has disappeared from the tournament map pool, their number is also limited. Because of this, the Dragon Lore AWP is extremely rare and its price exceeds 200 thousand dollars.

Interestingly, the second place in the list of the most expensive skins went not to firearms or knives, but to gloves. The ability to change the appearance of gloves appeared in the game in 2016, and the Pandora's Box Sport Gloves were one of the first skins of this type. Added with the update «Brothers in Arms», they could drop from the corresponding briefcase. As of 2017, they can also be mined from the cases «Operation Hydra». The item starts at $26,000 dollars.
