Tournament organizer Pinnacle revealed plans to host a new tournament in partnership with Black Molly Entertainment and Lund city officials. The event, called Pinnacle Cup Championship, is scheduled to take place in June at Lund's «Sparbanken Skåne Arena» The event will be LAN-formatted and will have a total prize pool of a quarter of a million dollars.
Three of the eight participants are known: Heroic, fnatic and Imperial. The rest of the list should be announced in the coming months. The organizers also note that before this event, the Pinnacle Series will host two more events, more details of which they plan to release soon. The Pinnacle Cup Championship will thus be the main event in the series of events organized by Pinnacle in cooperation with GRID.
Tolm Warburton, one of the heads of GRID Esports, commented in a press release on the organization of the tournament in Lund as follows: «Pinnacle Cup Championship – is an expression of our joint plans that we have been realizing with Pinnacle throughout our partnership. The Pinnacle Cup has now become a tournament with a recognized reputation for attracting the best teams in the world. We expect that the upcoming competition in Lund will help us to strengthen this position».
