Pinnacle, which organizes events such as Pinnacle Winter and Pinnacle Fall, has announced that it will host a third season of its $100,000 Pinnacle Cup tournament in 2022. The previous two seasons were held in 2021, with Gambit and Spirit being the winners.
The event, which will award $80,000 to the winner, will be held in three separate stages. First, there will be a group stage in single elimination format with 12 teams divided into four groups. Next up will be the leader of each of them. The second round will be held in a Swiss format. The four competitors selected from the group competition will be joined by twelve others who received a direct invitation. The top eight will advance to the playoff stage, where they will compete for the top prize against the four teams invited directly to that stage.
Pinnacle also announced the list of participants of the first stage. These include youth squads such as the Young Ninjas as well as teams in the second hundred of the world rankings. Notable teams include – Bulgarian SKADE, new roster Coalesce and the revamped MAD Lions. The first round of the Pinnacle Cup starts on March 14.
