PGL revealed how teams will be seeded in the majors

The organizer of PGL tournaments spoke about how the distribution of participants at the stages of the majors, which are to be played under the Swiss system, will take place. As it turns out, PGL and Valve will be bringing back that Buchholz Factor-based player seeding system that was used at the 2018 FACEIT Major. The Challenges and Legends stages will use a scheme in which the results of matches already played are used to assess how difficult opponents the teams will be for each other, and to pair opponents with the same win-loss ratio.

Thus, RMR rankings will be used to allocate teams for the initial matches of each stage using a scheme that has been published previously. As a result, at the Challenger stage, the first two rounds will be played according to a predetermined scheme based on rankings, while in the third, fourth and fifth rounds the pairs of opponents will be drawn using the Buchholz coefficient. The match schedule for the Legends stage will be formed in a similar way.

The peculiarity of this method is that it takes into account not only the number of wins and losses, but also how difficult the team's opponents were.
