German cybersports organization BIG has announced the signing of Joseph «faveN“ Baumann. He will take the place of Niklas «gade» Gade, who has been sent to the reserves. According to BIG, the transfer of the 21-year-old player from Sprout – is an unprecedented transfer by the standards of the German cybersports scene, becoming the largest deal involving a German player in the history of CS: GO.
In his three years with Sprout, Baumann has repeatedly delivered outstanding results, and 2021 was an outstanding year for him in terms of individual achievements – in particular, ending the year with an average rating of 1.18. BIG, on the other hand, has been struggling recently after Ismailkan «XANTARES» Dortkardesh's move to Eternal Fire. The German team has failed to finish in the top five at the last two major tournaments. BIG now hopes to get back to the level it has been showing in 2020.
BIG manager Daniel Finkler commented on the transfer as follows: «Over the last 12 months faveN has shone on the international stage and many clubs have been interested in working with him… We are absolutely convinced that faveN, with his unique skills and commitment to playing on a global level, will fit in perfectly with BIG». The player himself said that he is happy to play for the best team in Germany and hopes that soon it can return to the top 10 again.
