Clearing the map in CS:GO

Knowing how to clean the map in CS:GO will come in handy for those who spend a lot of time playing the game and want to make their gaming experience as comfortable as possible. After the death of a player on the map in Counter Strike: Global Offensive there are traces of blood and bullets, and this can be a source of problems. Often they prevent you from spotting your opponent, and if you play on weak PCs, the excess of such details leads to FPS drops. This is especially troublesome when playing on servers with Deathmatch mode, but can cause trouble in normal matchmaking as well. To cope with this helps to clean the map from blood in CS:GO.

Cleaning the map in ks go using the console

You can give the command to clean the map in ks go in various ways. The most obvious way available by default – to do this is through the console. The r_cleardecals command is used for this purpose. For this method to work, you will need to enable the console first. To do this, follow these steps:

  • Go to the game setup and find the option «Enable Developer Console» under «Game».

  • Set this option to «yes».

  • You will be able to access the console in the game by pressing «`». It is located in the upper left part of the keyboard, and in the Russian layout it contains the letter «ё».

  • For convenience, you can set the console call to another key. The corresponding parameter can be found in the settings under «Keyboard and Mouse». The required command is placed in the «Interface subsection».

An alternative way to enable the console – add the appropriate command to the startup parameters. We've covered how to do this before. The -console parameter is responsible for enabling the console, which you can add with other parameters that set the game's launch features.

After that, at any moment of the game you can press the selected key, open the console and type r_cleardecals.

To memorize this command, it is useful to know how it is decoded: the word «clear» translates as «clear», and «decals» are decals, i.e. additional elements of the game environment, small details that are overlaid on top of the main textures. Literally translated, the word means «sticker» or «label»). Using decals allows developers to make levels more detailed while avoiding the excessive cost of detailing the textures themselves.

But opening the console every time and typing a long command – is a waste of time, especially if you use it often. It is much more convenient to bind map clearing in CS:GO to some key, such as W or shift. This is also done using the console. Once open, enter the following command:

bind "your button" "r_cleardecals"

You can specify any appropriate key in quotes, such as “w” or “SHIFT”. Interestingly, making a bind to clear the map in CS:GO can be done using different keys, and players' preferences in this regard differ. Some people prefer to bind this action to a separate button that is not used for other functions. But most people prefer not to waste extra movement on pressing a button, because in CS: GO every second counts.

Therefore, it is not a bad option – zabindi clear the map in CS:GO to W or another direction of movement. Then you won't have to worry about it on purpose: every time you move forward, the map will be cleared. Another common solution – to link this command to shooting. As a result, traces of blood and bullets will disappear from the map every time a shot is fired, which means they won't accumulate, degrade visibility or overload the system either. Some player use to clear the map in CS:GO bind WASD by selecting one or more movement keys. Here's what the commands corresponding to these cases will look like:

  • bind w "r_cleardecals" – decals will disappear when the player moves forward

  • bind mouse1 "r_cleardecals" – the map will be cleared when the left mouse button is pressed, i.e. with every shot

  • bind shift "+speed; r_cleardecals" – the map is cleared when SHFT is pressed.

Using one of these binds on weak computers will give a small increase in FPS, as additional design elements (decals) will not accumulate on the map, increasing the amount of computing resources required to display it.

Adding binds to the configuration file

Another way to save time on adding binds – is to add them to the configuration file. To do this, find the cfg folder in the game files and add the autoexec.cfg file to it. It can be created and edited with Notepad and then saved with the desired extension. For the settings to work, type «host_witeconfig»as the last line, specifying all necessary bindings beforehand. Now the necessary settings will be automatically activated each time you start the game.

Thus, setting the map cleanup on WASD in ks go or bind to some other convenient key, you can get several advantages that will make the game more comfortable:

  • it will be easier to control the environment and aim, because the dark spots will not mask the enemy;

  • bloodstains and bullet marks on the walls will not be distracting;

  • The computer will not spend additional resources on displaying these details, which means that the game will run smoother and FPS will increase, which is especially important for devices with low performance.
