The Counter Strike: Global Offensive update, released on October 16, included fixes to several maps at once. One of the major changes was the removal of a sound bug that had been an issue in the game for a long time. It was that if one of the players was moving on water, sometimes opponents could hear the sound of his footsteps, even if they were in a position where it should not be heard.
Players began to express their discontent about this bug especially often after the Ancient map was added to the tournament map pool, where water is present near the team's spawn point «». The problem has been noted before: for several years now it has affected matches played on Overpass and Inferno, where water-covered areas are also present on important segments of the map.
The fix in the latest update is very timely, as it fixes the bug on the eve of PGL Major Stockholm, the biggest tournament of the year, so it won't affect the results of matches. In addition, other edits have been made to the Ancient and Basalt maps in the update. These include fixes for visual flaws and minor bugs. The update also improved the stability of the game as a whole.
