Nikola «NiKo» Kovacs and Nemanja «huNter-» Kovacs announced a contract extension with G2 on the eve of the majors. While team officials have not disclosed the exact length of the agreement, it is known that it is at least a multi-year contract. HuNter has been performing in G2 since October 2019 – then he joined, moving from the Ukrainian GR4ZY. NiKo joined G2 a year later, in November 2020, and by then he had already made a name for himself playing for FaZe.
Thus, both players will dedicate the most promising years of their cybersport career to G2. The older of the Kovacs is now 26 and the younger 25, and they have both been showing great individual form lately. In 2020 and 2021, they were ranked in the top twenty players of the year, but major trophies continue to elude their team.
Now G2 will have to test their mettle at the PGL Antwerp Major. She will play her opening match on May 9 against American Liquid, currently ranked 13th in the world rankings. G2 herself is now hanging on to sixth position: she performed impressively at IEM Katowice after being coached by Aleksi «Aleksib» Virolainen. However, she failed to play at the same level in the ESL Pro League and PGL RMR.
