The playoffs for the CBS Elite League Season 2 major South American tournament began Thursday. The teams that finish in first place will not only receive a cash prize, but also the ranking points needed to qualify for the Stockholm Major. Eight teams with mostly Brazilian players made the playoffs. The semi-finals will take place on Saturday, while the third place match and grand final – will take place on Sunday.
Among the favorites – are two South American teams that have already made a name for themselves at the world level, namely MIBR and Sharks. It is possible that unexpected surprises should be expected from Paqueta, who showed themselves well in the group stage. Many analysts have focused on Victor «iDk» Torraca, who led his team to the playoffs with an individual rating of 1.39.
South American teams have only one slot in the Stockholm majors, so they have something to fight for. The winner will receive 2,000 ranking points, while the difference between MIBR, Sharks and Paqueta, currently at the top of the rankings, is less than 300. Teams in this region will face another ranking tournament in the second half of 2021, after which positions will be finalized.
