Marcus Kyarbe has announced his retirement from cybersport

Danish cyber athlete Markus «Kjaerbye» Kjaerbye has announced that he will leave the HYENAS project, for which he has been competing lately, and stop doing CS: GO on a professional level. Now the Dane is only 23 years old, but despite his young age, he has managed to mark several impressive achievements. Most notably, in 2017, when Marcus was still 18 years old, he became the youngest ever Majors MVP at the 2017 ELEAGUE Major. Then Astralis, for whom he played, won the tournament. In addition, he was twice (in 2016 and 2017) included in the list of the twenty best players of the year.

In 2018, Markus unexpectedly left Astralis and moved to North – a Danish team that expected to reach a high level with the support of soccer club «Copenhagen». The project was unsuccessful, and after that Kjaerbye decided to try his luck outside Denmark and joined FaZe. Some time after he dropped out of FaZe's main roster, Markus teamed up with two other former North players to try and create a new Danish team. However, it was not possible to achieve quick success.

In his statement about leaving CS: GO, Markus said that now he does not feel motivated enough to compete on a professional level. He is currently planning on doing something unrelated to Counter Strike, but doesn't rule out returning to the game in the future.
