Cybersports organization MAD Lions has announced that it is shutting down its CS: GO division. This comes a few months after the roster built around Tomas «TMB» Bandsback was bolstered with two new players.
MAD Lions, originally based in Spain, has been competing in CS:GO since its inception in 2017. At first, local teams played under that name, but in 2019 the organization expanded beyond its region by signing a roaster led by Nicolai «HUNDEN» Petersen. It also invested a large sum in the now closed Flashpoint project.
The Danish roster did not achieve significant success, and in 2021 the organization decided to build an international team, giving priority to the development of promising young players. At the beginning of 2022, Ukrainian Viktor «sdy» Orudzhev and Pole Michal «MICHU» Muller joined the team, which at that time included cyber athletes from Denmark, Lithuania and Ukraine. However, they, like the rest of the competition, will now have to look for a team again after MAD Lions released the following statement:
«Having participated in the competition for a long time, we have now decided to say goodbye to our CS: GO division and the players within it... Thank you to all the players and staff who worked with us».
