JW announced his departure from fnatic

Jesper «JW» Wexell, one of fnatic's most prominent players, has announced his retirement from the team after remaining in the reserves for several months. JW played for fnatic for over seven years, but he has now been granted free agent status and will be looking to continue his career.

JW was a member of fnatic from 2013 to 2021, with the exception of a brief stint with GODSENT. Under his watch, the team won three majors, and JW himself was named to the Top 20 Player of the Year list three times. In total, fnatic won 22 major LAN events during this period. Saying goodbye to fnatic, Jesper thanked everyone who accompanied him along the way and especially noted several teammates with whom he had formed friendships.

In a post about his departure, the player expressed the following: «I will work hard on my game, try to get into streaming, and play as many qualifications as possible until I decide where to go next… It's been an exciting journey, but everything ends sometime – and it's time for me to start writing the next chapter».  JW is currently registered for the open qualification tournament for IEM Winter in a team under the GORILLAZ tag along with his former teammate Robin «flusha» Rönnqvist and a few other cyber athletes.
