Denmark's Heroic emerged victorious in their BLAST Premier Spring Showdown quarterfinal matchup, beating Asia's NKT on two cards. For the latter, it was the first match at an international event, as the team had only played at tournaments held in Asian countries before.
Despite the fact that Heroic's advantage was undeniable on both maps, NKT showed some potential. The match started on Inferno, which NKT chose. The draw of this card ended with a score of 16 – 7 in favor of the Danes. Heroic took the lead from the very beginning, and although after switching sides NKT were able to partially equalize the situation largely thanks to the efforts of Annihilation, a recently joined Mongolian cyber athlete, it was not enough.
On the second map (Nuke) NKT was more effective, and the score gap was not so significant (16 – 11). At first, the Asian team even managed to get a 6 – 0 lead before Heroic figured out how to counter them. It is interesting that on both maps NKT played much more successfully on the defense side, but could do little when in the position of attackers.
Thus, the European debut of NKT was unsuccessful and the team leaves BLAST Premier Spring Showdown, however, most likely, it will not be the last performance at major events in the near future.
