Two more teams joined the list of teams that successfully passed the play-in IEM Katowice and secured a place in the main part of the tournament. They were fnatic and ENCE, who on Wednesday won tight matches that required overtime to decide the winner. As a result, fnatic defeated BIG with a score of 2 – 1, while ENCE defeated GODSENT with the same score.
The BIG vs. fnatic match was notable for the fact that Owen «smooya» Butterfield, now playing for the British team, played against his former teammates. Already on the first map (Ancient) the strength of the participants was about equal, and in the end they had to play overtime after the score 15 – 15. The draw of this map ended in favor of fnatic, but on the next map (Vertigo), BIG was the winner by a small margin. Finally, on Overpass fnatic finally proved that they deserved to win, winning the map, and with it the whole match, with a score of 16 – 8.
The ENCE vs. GODSENT match started with an overwhelming victory of the European team on Nuke (16 – 5), but then the Brazilians managed to equalize the situation. They managed to win Vertigo in overtime with a minimal advantage, but on the decisive map (Mirage) ENCE took the upper hand again.
Previously, OG, Astralis, FaZe, Copenhagen Flames, MOUZ and NIP had already secured a place in the main stage of the tournament.
