FaZe advanced to the PGL Major Antwerp grand finals on Saturday with a 2 – 0 victory over Spirit. Despite the fact that Spirit left the major, its performance in the semifinals became a significant achievement for it: the youngest team of the tournament, the leader of which is Leonid «chopper» Vishnyakov, proved that it can play on equal terms with more experienced teams from the top-10 of the world rating.
The first map of the match was Mirage, and on it FaZe took the lead rather quickly, having achieved by the time of the change of sides the score 10 – 5 in its favor. Havard «rain» Nyagaard and Robin «ropz» Kool were particularly successful. In the second half of the card draw, Spirit took the lead for a while after an impressive multikill from Robert «Patsi» Isyanov. Further struggle looked almost equal, but the map eventually remained for FaZe with the score 16 – 13.
The fight between Spirit and FaZe continued on Dust2. As on the previous map, FaZe led at first, but Spirit managed to take the lead, winning six points in a row. By the thirtieth round the winner was still undecided, and only in the third overtime FaZe managed to realize matchpoint and win the map with the score 25 – 24, thus securing a place in the grand finals. Her opponent will be determined by the outcome of the NAVI – ENCE match on Saturday night.
