ESL has revealed changes to the structure of the ESL Pro League in 2022

ESL's largest tournament organizer recently revealed how the Pro Tour series will change next year and what the event calendar will be like. The changes mainly concern the structure of Pro League competitions and how the participants will be selected.

All Pro Tour events will now be united under the ESL brand. DreamHack Open will have a new name, ESL Challenger, and the ESL Challenger League will take the place of ESEA Premier. Consequently, the order of selection for competitions will also change. While the DreamHack Open has existed largely separate from the EPL in the past, in the future the latter will be the ultimate target for the leaders of the aforementioned Challenger Series tournaments. In addition, the EPT Conference series will be an intermediate stage on the way to the ESL Pro League. The first event of this cycle will be held already in November this year.

ESL representatives also mentioned that the organization of Rio Major in 2022 is now in doubt after it could not be held in 2020 due to an unfavorable epidemiological situation. In addition, the ESL published calendar lists the dates and venues of the Masters Series – . In addition to the expected Katowice and Cologne, the list includes locations in the USA and China.
