Swedish cyber athlete Richard «Xizt» Landström has announced the end of his professional career. For the last twelve years he managed to achieve a lot in two versions of the game, won many major tournaments and represented famous cybersport organizations.
Xizt loudly announced himself in the last years of CS 1.6. He was among the top twenty players in 2010 and 2011. Then, after moving to CS: GO, he began playing for NIP and contributed to one of the then-unique achievements of the roster: an 87 consecutive map win streak. As a member of NIP, he won over 20 LAN tournaments between 2012 and 2018.
After leaving NIP, Landström worked with fnatic and Dignitas, but this period was not as fruitful as he had hoped. In September 2020, he left Dignitas and remained in inactivity, contemplating his next steps. In his interview with HLTV, the player revealed that he made the decision to end his career as a result:
«The last few years have not really worked out in my favor and I have not been able to play as effectively. Just like I wanted. The failures we suffered in fnatic and Dignitas, especially compared to the past years of my career, have affected me and shaken my confidence».
At the same time, Xizt is not going to finally part with CS:GO. He expects to stay in the cybersports industry doing analytical work or team management.
