The finalists for the Roobet Cup 2022 were decided on Wednesday, with the final match to be played on June 30. They were FaZe and BIG.
FaZe needed three cards to defeat Astralis in the semifinals. She first lost to the Danes on their chosen Overpass, but then won convincingly on Mirage and Dust2. On Overpass the confrontation was almost equal at first, and at one point the score was 13 – 13. In this situation, Astralis was able to gain an edge in its favor. However, on Mirage the gap between the teams was already more significant: by the middle of the map FaZe led with the score 10 – 5 and managed to keep this advantage after the change of sides. Finally, on Dust2 the dominance of FaZe became undeniable, and this map remained for it with the score 16 – 7.
German BIG, in its turn, defeated Cloud9 in its semifinal match. Interestingly, this is the first time that BIG has prevailed over this Russian team, which is now ranked fourth in the world rankings. Cloud9 recently took first place at IEM Dallas, but was unable to repeat that success at the Roobet Cup. To pass to the final, BIG had enough to win on two maps – Dust2 and Inferno.
Now BIG and FaZe will have to meet in the cup final, which will take place in the evening of June 30.
