Astralis left the majors after losing to Vitality

Danish Astralis finally lost their chance to defend their Major title with a defeat to Vitality. Commentators point out that both teams have not approached the tournament in the best shape and have performed worse than they could in the previous stages. As a result, the outcome of the tense match was decided not so much due to the application of well-thought-out tactics, but rather due to the individual skill of the cyber athletes. The best player of the match was Mathieu «ZywOo» Erbo, who finally showed the level that was expected of him in previous matches.

Thus, Astralis, who had previously won three consecutive majors since FACEIT Major 2018, leaves the tournament with no hope of continuing that streak. Whether Vitality itself manages to qualify for the final round of the tournament will be decided on Tuesday, as it is now evenly matched in wins and losses. Two more matches will take place on the same day: Virtus.pro will play against FaZe, and Copenhagen Flames – against Entropiq. This will determine who will take the three remaining spots in the playoffs and will be able to face the leaders such as Gambit, G2 and Natus Vincere. A surprise for many was the appearance among the teams that came so close to the final, Copenhagen Flames, which is now ranked tenth in the world rankings and was considered «dark horse» tournament.
